I am grateful for Congress's recent short-term extension to preserve the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA). This program is a lifeline for people who have experienced adverse health effects as a result of nuclear weapons development and testing in the U.S. While this is a significant first step, I urge you to do what is right and expand and extend the Radiation Exposure Compensation act so those who have waited over 77 years can finally get the justice they deserve. <br><br>The U.S. has conducted over 1,000 nuclear tests on its own soil, exposing communities downwind to harmful radiation without their knowledge or consent. Your support of the bipartisan RECA Amendments of 2021 (H.R. 5338/S. 2798) could mean the difference between individuals having the opportunity to receive critical health services or the continued deterioration of devastating health effects from radiation exposure. <br><br>As your constituent, I ask you to co-sponsor and help pass H.R. 5338/S. 2798 before time runs out for victims of U.S. nuclear weapons development and testing.
